Landscaping

Landscape: “a picture representing a section of natural, inland scenery, as of prairie, woodland, mountains...an expanse of natural scenery seen by the eye in one view.” Webster’s new Universal Unabridged Dictionary

I really enjoyed this assignment. I love landscape photography. Just looking at certain scenes brings peace, joy, sadness and a awe of the beauty that is before me. I love the colors and hues that can be present. Much like the beach seens that I have included. These were obviously not taken this time of year, but were take in August of 2009 & 2010 in OOB, Maine.

Yet the difference in seasons brings a vast difference in my ability to travel in search of photographs for this assignment. My quest took me on a 93 mile snowmobile ride, which last "too" long according to my husband who rode with me and had so much patience with me as I stopped quite often whenever the scene in front of me needed to be captured for my assignment. What a beautiful state we live in and might not have been able to capture such views if we had not travel off the beaten path into the mountains and valleys of Central Vermont. I really had a hard time choosing the 5 best photos, so I hope that you bear with me as I add a few more than expected. Hope you enjoy the views as much as I did!

  1. Paula, your pictures are gorgeous! Of course, the beach shots have me longing for summer! I love the colors and textures of all of the beach photos.

As far as the winter scapes, I appreciate the ones you captured! The color and lighting are amazing. I really like the snowmobile trail heading between the 2 trees, with the mountains on the horizon creating a diagonal rule of thirds.

  2. Paula, great job with your pictures. I love them all. You captured great colors in every one of them. The rule of thirds is great in the horse picture. I just love the picture with the bridge in it. You captured framing in several of them. I think my favorite one is the last one. I love the sense you get when you look at it that the snowmachine trail kind of turns into the road later in the picture.

  3. Thank you for your comments. I had a lot of fun with this assignment and tried to incorporate what we have learned about composition - S curves and geometric shapes, framing, RofT, color schemes and balancing in my landscape photos! It was a great day to go for a snowmobile ride and have others see the wonderful views from a different perspective.

  4. Paula, I'm lovin' all the photos! I really like the photos of the beach! Like Laurie it reminds me that summer "will" get here even if we have a couple more months! One of my favorite photos is the one of the beach with the sun going down in the background. It's just beautiful! Great job!
